Hands-On Fundraising: Sno-Isle TECH Students Shine at Monroe Auto Swap Meet

On May 17–18, 2025, the Sno-Isle Skills Center Foundation proudly returned to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds for its second consecutive year with a booth at the Monroe Auto Swap Meet—a popular regional event that attracts car enthusiasts, collectors, and vendors from across the Pacific Northwest.

This year’s presence wasn’t just about showing up—it was about showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and applied skills of Sno-Isle TECH students across multiple programs. The result? A strong show of support, impressive student work on display, and approximately $1,400 raised to benefit student programs.

Student Talent on Display

The Foundation’s booth was a true cross-program collaboration, offering various handcrafted items and services, all created or performed by Sno-Isle TECH students. Each offering represented the technical skill and entrepreneurial mindset being fostered on campus:

  • Welding & Metal Fabrication: Custom-designed wall and countertop metal art showcased intricate designs and craftsmanship that caught the eye of collectors and home décor fans alike.
  • Advanced Manufacturing: Guests could purchase custom shift knobs and valve stem caps, precision-engineered by students using industry-standard machining and fabrication tools.
  • Culinary Arts: Freshly baked goods and signature BBQ rubs were available, giving attendees a delicious taste of the culinary program’s creativity and professionalism.
  • Fashion & Merchandising: Students demonstrated design thinking and sewing skills with practical and stylish items from fabric tote bags and scrunchies to table runners.
  • Medical Assisting: Adding an educational and interactive twist to the booth, students used Eldon blood type testing kits to perform on-site demonstrations, allowing visitors to learn their blood type while seeing the precision and professionalism of future healthcare workers in action.

Raising Support—and Awareness

In addition to generating approximately $1,400 in funds for program resources, scholarships, and student enrichment opportunities, the booth also served as a powerful awareness platform for the Foundation’s mission. Guests left not only with handcrafted goods and helpful health information, but also a deeper appreciation for the impact of career and technical education in our region.

Back Again Next Year

The Monroe Auto Swap Meet is quickly becoming a staple on the Foundation’s annual events calendar. We’re excited to announce that we will return next year, during the third weekend in May 2026, with even more student-made creations and demonstrations.

We invite you to stop by next year’s booth, support student innovation, and see firsthand how Sno-Isle TECH is shaping the next generation of skilled professionals.
